STAND YOUR GROUND, THE DAWN WILL COME
POSITIVE -Inquisitive: Bryce has always had curiosity into how things work and what they do. He likes to experiment and honestly sometimes it is hard for those who know him to tell if this is a good or bad thing about him. But it’s his inquisitiveness that inspires him to dive into his studies, even when he’s a bit lackadaisical when it comes to other things that he should be taking more care of seeing to. That etiquette lesson? Well…he was supposed to be there, but he was too busy trying to keep his latest experiment from exploding in the lower cellars of the castle. -Resourceful: Bryce has an affinity for the unusual, and finding himself in strange situations often isn’t a problem, as he’s usually carrying something on his person that may help glide through a tight situation or if not, he’ll think of something. The gears in his head are always turning, so it’s safe to say he’s never short on ideas. Unfortunately, this doesn’t save him when trying to come up for his latest excuse as to why the drapes are on fire in the foyer. -Confident: Bryce never looks down on himself, or at least he tries not to. After all, he was named after his Grandfather, great Teyrn of Highever just before his Uncle Fergus. Is he smart? Yes? Brave? Yes! Better looking than his twin sister? He sure thinks so! It’s Bryce’s confidence that inspires his bravery in scary situations and his motivation to work as hard as he does. Though there are some that would wish he’d put more time into studying history than making his explosives. -Loyal: Bryce has always been the Loyal sort. Once he’s a friend you’ve got a friend for life (Unless you screw it up of course), and he’s always willing to help and defend those that he cares for the most. He may fight with you, and often he can’t control his tongue and says things he doesn’t mean, but he’s got a good heart underneath all that teenage rebellion, and if he loves you he’d certainly take a knife to the chest for you. Of course…he’d like to not take a knife to the chest, so try and keep yourself out of that scenario. -Genuine: He fights with all of his force, loves with all his heart, and puts his all into everything. Bryce will never lie to you about the most important things, and he often comes off as plain blunt (which also often gets him reprimanded), but he places his heart into everything he does, and you can’t fault him for trying to be as honest (when it doesn’t involve his failed experiments) as possible….even if you really do look fat in that dress. | LIKES -His family, they mean the world to him. - Taking things apart, particularly spent explosives if he can recover any pieces at all. - About a year ago, he rescued a Fennec Fox, and when it refused to leave claimed it as a pet. Dusty is now a daily part of his life. - Pranks. This is why half the castle usually checks their surroundings after he leaves a room. - He unlike most kids actually liked his veggies growing up, and he still does. - Solitude. Solitude is nice once in a while. - Bothering his twin sister. His record time for getting her to kick him out of her room is ten seconds. -Explosives. -The smell of the powder he uses in his explosives. -Girls. Girls are nice. Unfortunately he’s given the wrong opinion on what shade of lipstick they were wearing to more than a few girls his age. DISLIKES -People he doesn’t know are usually considered shady until further notice. - He really, really dislikes Apples. His complaint is that he can never seem to pick the crispy ones, and apparently that just means all apples are a bad thing. Travesty, really. - Fancy Parties. He dislikes getting more dressed up than usual just to impress a bunch of stiffs with their breeches set too high. - Cats. He’s never quite liked cats. Maybe it’s because they’re soulless. -When his experiments go wrong. He’s getting tired of having to sit through speeches about how ‘we shouldn’t be bringing explosives into the larder.’ At least he hasn’t caused a huge explosion…yet. - Being told to do something differently. He likes things the way he does them, thank you. | NEGATIVE -Casual: Bryce is a bit lazy, easygoing when it comes to things he isn’t as passionate about. He often forgets what he’s taught as a Cousland. Titles are forgotten on occasion when addressing someone important, he forgets which fork he’s supposed to be using at dinner, and sometimes he’s a little too honest with the Noble ladies. It’s just a part of him, and though his sister seems to see it as a problem, he accepts it as who he is. -Outspoken: Perhaps he talks too much, but he doesn’t usually simply take and swallow other’s opinions when he thinks they’re wrong, and he’s more than happy to correct them…sometimes blunter than one would want him to. But staying quiet has never done anything for anyone, has it? -Cautious: Aware of the Cousland history, Bryce is very untrusting when it comes to outsiders, especially when they’re within the castle walls. He’s careful with those he meets, because anyone can turn on you in a split second. So yes, you may be allowed in the castle. But just keep in mind that somewhere, there are at least 5 hidden explosives that Bryce is hoping don’t go off without his signal within the castle, and he’s not afraid to use them. -Sarcastic: Sarcastic? Of course he is! It all comes with his casual package. Perhaps he hung out with the wrong sort when he was younger, but he often uses his Sarcasm at the wrong times. “Why no, Lady Meyer, no one said neon yellow was out of style. I’m just saying I think I’ve gone blind thanks to your dress.” -Eccentric: Bryce likes to make things. Sometimes he makes them too fast. Ask the Kitchen staff about his exploding gelatin, they can tell you a story. |

[PTab=BIOGRAPHY]
THE NIGHT IS LONG AND THE PATH IS DARK
Baa Baa Black Sheep
The fact that Bryce never knew his father is a bit upsetting to him, but all the same, he knows what he was born into and tries not to take it for granted despite his occasional lack of manners that every Noble man and woman seems to come equipped with. But he was named for his grandfather and raised alongside his twin sister, Eleanor. He for the most part had a normal childhood, or what is normal for one of such a normal house. But his curiosity often got the best of him, even as a child. Wandering in places he shouldn’t be, getting into things he shouldn’t be getting into, but often he found he couldn’t stay away from the wonders of what he didn’t know, and this often involved him burning his hands on things, slipping into trouble, and many, many weeks of castle confinement over the course of his life.
Bryce didn’t know much about things at the age of five years old, but what he does remember is his mom seeming rather cozy with one of the newer servants. And not long after that, his mother announced that they had more siblings on the way. MORE! Bryce could hardly believe it, and as a five years old it was exciting news. Though the smell of baby was not something he much appreciated. He didn't know much about the man himself (though he did find out later how babies were made and that was something he wished he didn't know about his mother), and he often avoided him due to the fact that it was not his own father, so why should he care about it? However, he later gave his life in defending his half sister, and he respects the man for that much.
His real interest in bombs and other such treasures didn’t come until he visited the local Highever Market with his sister and a guard or so. A traveling merchant, specialized in just the things. And he told him a lot about the things he knew of explosives, and how he got into making and selling such things. And the story had the ten year old enthralled, that was until his guards eventually found him among the crowd. After all, keeping track of children is hard, harder when one of them has the attention span of a common pond fish. Of course Eleanor ratted him out later and he got in trouble for wandering off but it was worth it now that he looks back on it.
But since then, he found comfort in learning about such things, and when he was 14 he actually brought the things behind his mother’s back to make his first explosive—not that it turned out well of course, but eventually, his passion was recognized and he was permitted to study the ways of a Tempest, something he’s still not sure if his mother regrets allowing, but he decides not to push the subject.
It was in the same year he started studying that he encountered an injured Fennec Fox on one of his trips. And he nursed it for weeks until it got better, only to find it no longer wished to leave his side. It was no Mabari, but foxes were sly, just like rouges, and if it was what he was going to be, he figured he needed to mascot. Even if it was strangulatingly adorable for a fox. And so his studies continued. Unfortunately because of this, he often slacks off in his other studies, and trying to balance them all often exhausts him. But he’s determined to become a functioning member of the Cousland family in any way he can.
The Inquisition and Skyhold is for sure a new place for him, but how much trouble can he possibly get into? Actually....don't answer that.
for extra app things
-He has a scar on his right shoulder from falling out of a tree when he was younger, because yes, children are stupid.
-People often call him Bry.
